Colleges of the Fenway (COF) is a collaborative effort of five neighboring Boston-based higher education institutions in the Longwood Medical and Academic area. This collaboration was created to add value to student academic and social life while seeking innovative methods of investing in new services and containing the costs of higher education.
COF is looking for a part-time Senior Director of Programs and Communications to work closely with other COF leaders to provide strategic leadership and support to the COF collaboration among the five member institutions with particular focus on joint programs within Student Affairs and Admissions and collaboration with Marketing and Communications on overall communication strategy for the consortium. This is a key leadership position within the central COF office.
Facilitate key committees and their programs including: Residential Life, Student Activities, Admissions, Veteran’s Affairs, Marketing and Communications. Ensure that these groups engage in projects that support the overall COF goals and have mutual value to the participants and the member institutions. Work in support of committee goals and priorities.
Assist the Executive Director in facilitating senior leadership committees including: Coordinating Council, Senior Student Affairs Officers, and Enrollment Management providing leadership to and manage specific initiatives in related areas.
Work with Admissions representatives and the COF Office Manager/Senior Program Assistant on planning collaborative events that support the priorities of the members including annual counselor tour, hosted events, COF high school tours, and joint marketing initiatives in all forms of media.
Supervise the Director of Intramurals and Co-Directors, Center for Performing Arts.
Developing and producing internal and external marketing materials that identify and support the COF and its programs, including e-newsletters, brochures, annual reports and the website. Work closely with the COF Office Manager/Senior Program Assistant and student staff in managing COF website.
Work with appropriate staff at member institutions to coordinate joint sponsorships.
Work with all COF staff to raise awareness about COF programs and events amongst the members.
Collaborate with other COF staff to facilitate joint contracts and services within the functional areas represented by the committees identified above.
Represent the COF at events and meetings, including as alternate for Executive Director on occasion.
Prepare presentations, documents, and share staffing responsibilities for Open Houses, Accepted Students Day(s), and Opening Weeks.
Prepare reports, minutes and other written and verbal communications to the appropriate COF Committees, including the Board.
Maintain data for all Committees and projects, updating core data on regular basis.
Manage outside consultants engaged for specific projects, as needed.
Perform other duties/projects as assigned.
Master’s degree in education, business management, planning or a related field.
Seven to 10 years of experience working with or in college or university academic, student affairs or communications administration.
Must be familiar with the administration of academic institutions and have strong project management and communications experience.
Familiarity with SharePoint, Constant Contact, and WordPress
Ability to foster trust and build interpersonal relationships, be energetic and have a high tolerance for ambiguity and nuance.
Demonstrated ability to build consensus and work with diverse campus constituencies.
Strong meeting facilitation, project management, organizational, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Excellent diplomatic, analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
Experience in effective use of social and traditional media to build awareness of brand and initiatives.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to take initiative, work independently and with groups, and manage several projects simultaneously.
Willingness to work unusual hours as needed.
Compensation and Benefits Compensation is based on experience and part-time schedule. This position offers prorated vacation and sick time as well as 403(b) retirement plan participation, however it does not qualify for health insurances or other benefits.
