Under the direction of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Director will develop, promote, and direct campus events to ensure a balanced educational and social environment for students and staff
Responsibilities of the Director for Student Activities and Student Leadership include, but not limited to the following:
Directs, manages and evaluates the activities; programs and services of the Student Activities Office.
Develops and implements appropriate methods and procedures to provide effective and successful social, cultural and instructional activities for students.
Manages and coordinates the work of the Assistant Director
Evaluates performance of Assistant Director as well as delegates, and reviews assignments and projects; evaluates work products and results; establishes and monitors timelines and prioritizes work.
Prepares and administers annual program budgets including recommendations and justifications regarding budget requests; authorizes other fund expenditures, receipts and disbursements according to University policies and applicable regulations.
Serves as chief advisor to SGA; oversees and assists in developing a wide variety of activities, events, and programs designed for social, cultural, and instructional development of students.
Provides leadership seminars, training and workshops for SGA as well as other student clubs and organizations.
Develops, directs, and evaluates student activities and program operations; compile and analyze data related to student participation and program evaluation; develops organization work processes which facilitate attainment of established program goals and objectives.
Coordinates and manages program activities with other student services functions and instructional programs; provides technical expertise and input concerning student activities; recruits and assists staff for events and activities.
Prepares and administers the disbursement of Student Activities and Leadership funds; authorizes expenditures; and assists with the preparation and development of Student Activities and Leadership budgets.
Develops, manages, and evaluates Student Activities and services; enforces rules and regulation in accordance with appropriate University policies.
Arranges for college representation at conferences and meeting concerning student group; communicates with other Student Affairs program personnel, administrators and support personnel, faculty and others to coordinate Student Activities and programs.
Directs program activities with other Student Affairs functions, provides technical expertise and provides input concerning Student Activities; and assists faculty advisors for clubs.
Establishes, directs, and maintains master school calendar of Student Activities and other publications which may be developed.
Oversee activities in the Cordell Reed Student Union; ensures that proposed activities conforms to established polices and provides support services as needed.
Participates in coordination major student events such as Commencement, Student Recognition Day, Honors Convocation, Grad Fairs, Welcome Week, CSU Spirit Day and other extra-curricular activities.
Motivates and guides student leaders in constructive and productive activities consistent with their objectives and career goals.
Supports and directs the SGA in establishing sound fiscal practices; building and maintaining a responsible budget.
Generates, with the student leaders, enthusiastic and active staff support for the Student Activity program.
Establishes, coordinates, and maintains a broad and well supported club program responding to the interests of the students.
Reviews club activities, expenditures, minutes, budgets, and legality and propriety of meetings and activities.
Provides positive public relations programs for student activities and campus events.
Assists the Dean in developing and implementing a year round community service program.
Coordinates activities with the President to promote the University.
Serves as campus evening/Saturday supervisor on a rotational basis with other Student Activities administrative personnel.
Serves on pertinent University committees.
Performs other work related duties as may be assigned.
