The Coordinator for Apartment Communities is responsible for fostering an environment conducive to both personal and professional growth for students, and achieving the objectives of a successful University Housing program that connects to the academic mission of CSU. This position oversees the programmatic aspects of a comprehensive community development program focused on meeting the needs of residents in the apartment communities. Primary responsibilities include: supervision of 3 Office Managers, assist in leading the coordination and implementation of programs related to involvement, co-curricular and diversity and social justice, lead and implement the customer service aspect of the apartment communities, and serve as a liaison to campus resources. The Coordinator will carry out their responsibilities under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Apartment Communities.
The selected candidate will be well-organized and able to work well under pressure with multiple and consistently changing deadlines. To be successful in the position, the Coordinator must have excellent interpersonal communication, organization, administrative skills and demonstrated experience with taking initiative. In addition, the Coordinator will need a strong ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with multiple constituents including campus offices, students, staff, faculty members and various other community groups.
In addition, experience working with diverse individuals such as non-traditional aged, religiously diverse, gender, international, people with disabilities, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender, and persons of color is essential to be effective in the Coordinator position.
Required Job Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education or related field • 2 years of full time experience in Student Affairs and/or Housing • Supervision of various levels of staff (i.e. paraprofessional, graduate, etc.) • Experience with residential communities in a college/university setting • Experience working with people from a broad diversity of backgrounds
