The Coordinator of Student Leadership & Involvement is responsible for providing development and support for Michigan Tech’s Registered Student Organizations (RSO). This position will serve as the primary administrator for our engagement software platform, develop and implement our RSO training program, and provide support and assistance with RSO formation and registration. As a part of the Student Activities team, the Coordinator will assist in creating a vibrant student experience by providing general support for all departmental programs and initiatives; including campus traditions, leadership programs, and service initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide support and direction for all Registered Student Organizations (RSO’s), including advising, training and development, transition, and evaluation.
Serve as an advisor to the Undergraduate Student Government, including assisting with leadership development opportunities for the members, as well as training and advising for the Ways and Means committee.
Coordinate and oversee the annual RSO registration process, including development and implementation of RSO officer and advisor training.
Provide oversight for all Student Activity Fee allocations and transfers.
Serve as the financial advisor to The Lode, Film Board, and the Undergraduate Student Government.
Serve as one of the primary administrators for Involvement Link, our engagement software platform.
Responsible for maintaining all RSO data, records, and archives.
Provide oversight for the approval of all new RSO requests and perform regular review of all RSO constitutions and by-laws.
Responsible for holding RSO officers accountable for meeting minimum requirements, following departmental policies, and ensuring their compliance with Clery Act and Title IX.
Oversee the RSO Travel Policy procedures and collaborate with Transportation Services to facilitate the motor vehicle request process.
Assist in creating a dynamic RSO experience by approving student information requests, facilitating campus-wide communication, coordinating major purchases and tracking property/inventory.
Develop and implement training and workshops for students and RSO’s on a variety of topics including leadership, teambuilding, conflict resolution, and assessment.
Assist with all Student Activities large-scale events and traditions, such as An Afternoon on the Town, Welcome Week, K-Day, Homecoming, etc.
Evaluate and uphold all departmental and University policies.
Collaborate with Housing and Residential Life, Athletics, Alumni Relations, Risk Management, Facilities, and other departments to provide support for students and student groups.
Teach one section of a college success course during fall/spring semester, if possess an earned master’s degree.
Work irregular hours due to the nature of the position.
Serve on Student Affairs and University committees, as approved.
Act as a student advocate by providing guidance and making appropriate referrals to students as needed.
Experience working on/with university student organizations.
Experience with accounting and budget management.
Experience in using personal computers, word processing, database, and other software.
Experience creating and delivering engaging presentations for small and large audiences.Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and oral, written, and presentation skills.
