The Director for Academic Support Services is responsible for providing results-oriented leadership in the area of academic advising and support service programs within the Undergraduate Business Programs (UGBP)Office. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the development, implementation, supervision, design, planning and assessment of these areas within the Leavey School of Business. This position aligns the direction and focus of the Leavey School of Business undergraduate core curriculum with the University's strategic plan. This is a full-time, exempt position.
Position is open until filled; Initial review begins week of February 18th.
Academic Advising and Support Services (90%)
o Oversee, direct and supervise all aspects of the LSB Peer Advising Program to include supervision of peer advising program coordinator/ graduate assistant as well as peer advisor student executive board. o Create a vision and direction for peer advising to assure alignment with strategic initiatives and direction. o Supervises 8-10 faculty advisors who work with 1st and 2nd year students. o Review curriculum and programs to interface with LSB academic curriculum and learning goals. o Facilitate ongoing peer advising learning and training through a P/NP academic course. o Partner with appropriate university departments to support academic advising and support services activities. o Facilitate mandatory advising and course planning workshop. o Maintain a data driven approach to program development and assessment. o Plan and project budget needs related to program areas. o Develop and manage a 3-5 year plan for academic advising and support services. o Develops policies and procedures in this area in consultation with appropriate university offices and committees.
Advising Services and Liaison
o Oversee and create vision for faculty training and development in the area of academic advising. o Supervise 2-3 faculty advisors and or graduate assistants who work directly with students on academic issues and concerns in addition to supporting other academic advising services. o Academic liaison to Drahmann Advising Center, Office of the Registrar, COREcurriculum committee, Leavey School of Business faculty and staff on academic policies and procedures related to the LSB undergraduate curriculum. o Oversee, create, facilitate and direct all aspects of orientation sessions for incoming first year, transfer and internal transfer students. o Oversight for determining academic policy and procedure changes, writing new policies and communicating these to both academic and university departments. o Oversight for facilitation and implementation of academic support services such as but not limited to: graduation petition process, academic course waitlist process, LSB student registration for returning study abroad students, international student registration prerequisite approval process, faculty advisor selection/distribution and special projects as they arise with other university departments such as Office of the Registrar and the Drahmann Center. o Responsible for adjudication of requests for waivers or exceptions to Leavey School of Business policies and procedures. o Creates and facilitates faculty, staff waiver/ exception committee for complex exceptions to Leavey School of Business policies and procedures. o Represent UGBP in Undergraduate Studies Council and Core Curriculum Committee meeting as needed. o Supervision of Content Manager for all Undergraduate Business pages in University Bulletin and Core Curriculum document. o Provide statistics regarding undergraduate business students and courses to faculty, staff and University departments as needed. o Supervise faculty advisors/graduate assistants who assist students with finding classes, grant permission to enroll in restricted classes, and coordinate enrollment issues with academic departments and the Office of the Registrar.
Academic Advising Technology
o Oversee, direct and supervise all aspects of technology advances to assist with faculty and peer advising. o Interface with the Office of the Registrar, Drahmann Center and Information Technology to design, format and deliver online advising services and information. o Develop and manage a 3-5 year plan for utilizing technology to advance advising resources. o Maintain a data driven approach to program development and assessment. o Makes recommendations on policies and procedures in this area in consultation with appropriate university offices and committees. o Maintain and update the UGBP website with current advising resources and materials.
Undergraduate Business Programs and Services (10%) Participates in department and university committees as required. Contributes to building and sustaining department esprit de corps. Develops and maintains external outreach programs and functions in the area of academic advising and support services. Develops and maintains excellent communication and working relationships with administrative units on campus. Attend appropriate professional development associations and present workshops as appropriate. Develops expertise in the use of technology to support advising services. Partners with UGBP staff on projects and initiatives. Completes other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing, implementing and supervising staff and programs in the area of academic advising and support services.

Demonstrated high level knowledge of computer software, including MS Windows, MS Office, and Gmail. Excellent Excel knowledge and skills.
Master’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in an academic or business setting.
