Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Support and Student Wellness

The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Support and Student Wellness provides leadership for a range of student support functions, and strategic direction for the development of a holistic approach to ensuring student health, personal development, and overall well-being, for a diverse student population. Specifically, the AVC oversees the Division of Student Affairs’ student support and wellness cluster--a comprehensive portfolio that includes the following departments/offices/functions as direct reports: the Habif Health and Wellness Center (including medical and pharmacy services; mental health counseling services, and wellness education and advocacy); the relationship and sexual violence prevention (RSVP) program; the WashU Cares program (Washington University’s behavioral intervention program). The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Support and Wellness also works 1-1 with students to provide support to, and intervention with, students who may be experiencing a range of challenges with a particular focus on enhancing the support provided by student affairs programs and services to first-generation and under-resourced students. As part of the student support and wellness cluster, the AVC also works closely with Directors of Athletics and Recreation. The AVC serves on a variety of University committees and task forces, serves as a primary point person for the University’s response to students of concern, and plays a critical role in crisis management response for incidents involving students. As part of the Division of Student Affairs leadership team, the AVC also coordinates the Division’s internal professional development activities.
