Responsibilities of the Vice President for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Having equity as an essential part of the college's mission, TCC has been engaged in substantial equity, diversity and inclusion work. In order to improve the work that is being done, and move the college to be more effective in this space, the college seeks a strategic, forward-thinking, and dynamic visionary leader to serve as the Vice President for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Reporting directly to the President, and serving on the college's Leadership Team (executive cabinet) this Vice President position will lead the college in efforts to create an environment that values and demonstrates its commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. The position will be responsible for developing, aligning, and/or integrating a range of new and existing initiatives, policies and procedures into a cohesive platform that will foster a more inclusive, welcoming, supportive, and diverse college community. Understanding that this critical work is the responsibility of everyone at the college, this position will guide the college community in expanding and extending the values of diversity, equity and inclusion through teaching, scholarship, and broad engagement of students, faculty, and staff. The Vice President for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion will lead the college, in collaboration with needed staff and departments, in examination of current practices, policies, procedures, programs, structures, and campus climate, in order to develop a comprehensive, college-wide plan to create, and sustain a vibrant learning, and working, environment that is welcoming and supportive of all, as well as a plan that strives to eradicate equity gaps in student participation and achievement.
The Vice President for Equity Diversity and Inclusion will advise the president, vice presidents, and college community as a whole on matters related to equity, diversity and inclusion and its impact on the college community. This position provides direct supervision to the Division of Organizational Learning & Effectiveness, which includes institutional effectiveness, strategic planning, institutional research, institutional accreditation, grants, and faculty & staff training and development.
Position Summary The successful candidate will show evidence of leading organizational change, particularly as it relates to diversity, equity and inclusion. The candidate will have a strong theoretical and working knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion, and have the ability to translate that knowledge to others, as well as possess the ability to put his/her experience and knowledge into practice. The candidate will have significant knowledge, and experience, in addressing matters such as, but not limited to: (a) recruiting and retaining employees, and students, of color, (b) creating welcoming environments for all people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, non-native English speakers, immigrants, and people with varying abilities and who historically experience barriers to opportunities and resources, (c) addressing inequities and conflicts related to race, power, societal or social white privilege, institutional racism, and implicit bias. The candidate will have experience developing, implementing, and successfully facilitating productive discussions and trainings regarding issues of diversity, equity & inclusion. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative, and possess a keen ability to effectively communicate, and connect, with diverse individuals both inside and outside of the college community.
The Vice President for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion will
Provide leadership, coordination, consultation, assistance, strategic oversight, and direction, regarding all equity, diversity, and inclusion matters.
Develop and provide leadership to the implementation of an equity, diversity, and inclusion plan that affirms the College's commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, while aiming to create an environment that is welcoming and supportive of all students, faculty & staff.
Recommend policy, procedure and structural improvements that remove barriers to student, and employee, success.
In conjunction with the Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs, and faculty, develop and implement inclusive curricula and pedagogical practice.
Provide analysis of legislation related to equity, diversity, inclusion, non-discrimination, and develop and recommend policies that ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
Partner with Human Resources to develop strategies and opportunities to recruit and retain a diverse workforce that is reflective of the diversity of the student population.
Develop metrics and dashboards to ensure accountability, tracking, and monitoring of equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts.Work closely with relevant College offices in use of data tools (i.e. campus climate survey, demographic data, student completion and employment data etc.) to compile reports that create benchmarks and assess institutional progress regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts.
Develop dynamic and intentional equity, diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives for faculty and staff that adequately address the educational and social needs of our campus community.
Develop and implement employee professional development to support equity and cultural competencies, and an ability to work and thrive in an increasingly diverse college community.
Responsible for compliance and associated reports related to equity, diversity and inclusion.
Serve as a member of the Leadership Team (executive cabinet) responding to emerging issues, ideas, and challenges impacting the college's ability to effectively move forward with equity, diversity and inclusion efforts.
Oversee the Equity & Diversity Council and participate in college councils and committees as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by the President.
Qualifications for the Vice President for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in the development, implementation and assessment of equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
Experience in higher education setting.
Experience in student and staff recruitment, retention, training, and employment strategies to foster workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Demonstrated understanding of culture in higher education, including shared governance and respect for diverse views and opinions.
Demonstrated experience with developing and supporting continuous improvement principles utilizing a systemic approach and data for decision-making.
Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs.
Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively across multiple internal and external offices.
Experience in effectively facilitating challenging conversations that produce positive outcomes.
A team player dedicated to group problem solving.
Ability to motivate, encourage, and inspire students, faculty & staff.
Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated decision-making and administrative skills.
Ability to create and maintain strong relationships and build trust and consensus with College and community constituents.

Terms of Employment This is full-time professional administrative position contracted on an annual basis. The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $130,000 annually DOE/DOQ. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual number of contract days worked in the remainder of the fiscal year. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of the department.
