Residential Education Specialist 3 (Assistant Director, Commonwealth Campuses)
The Assistant Director Commonwealth Campuses, is responsible to a Senior Associate Director in Residence Life. Primary responsibilities include being the primary contact with Human Resources, developing the units cocurricular initiatives, and a resource for policies and crisis situations to the 10 Commonwealth campuses. As a liaison to Human Resources, this position is responsible for the coordination of the Residence Life staff HR needs throughout their time at the University. The Residence Life program and staff are spread across 11 residential campuses, housing over 19,000 students. The Assistant Director will assist the 10 Commonwealth campuses' interpretation of University policies and procedures, along with serving as a resource in crisis situations. This person will be responsible for staff training in and continued development of the unit's cocurricular learning initiatives, along with partnering in the assessment of these programs with the Senior Assistant Director. The Assistant Director is also responsible for the supervision of one graduate assistant. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with and knowledge of a residential based curriculum is expected. A commitment to and experience in collaborating with other university offices to implement and enhance programs for students is a necessity. Must demonstrate a commitment to the development of a community where diversity, cocurriculum, and sustainability are valued. Experience responding to crisis situations in order to participate in the on-call duty rotation. Required to be part of an on call duty rotation and live within 15 miles of campus. This position may require that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a live-off position.
