VICE PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS AND DEAN OF STUDENTS
Westminster College, a selective residential comprehensive liberal arts college, invites nominations and applications for its next Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students (VPSA). Westminster's strong tradition of excellent liberal arts education is the foundation for its innovative, multi-pronged educational programs. The College has been recognized for its outstanding graduation rates, civic engagement, undergraduate research in all fields, and women in STEM. Nearly 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students benefit from individualized attention from dedicated faculty while choosing from 41 majors and nearly 100 organizations on the New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, campus.
The VPSA, as chief student affairs officer of the College, administers the student affairs programs of the College, exercises visionary leadership in the fulfillment of the student affairs objectives of the College, and serves as the campus student affairs leader. Responsibilities also include developing collaborative relationships with campus administrative areas, faculty, and campus leaders to plan and implement strategic initiatives, develop partnerships, resolve issues, and cultivate seamlessness in our students’ learning experience. As a senior administrative officer, the VPSA reports directly to the President and maintains close liaison with other senior leadership team members and the Board of Trustees.
The VPSA will provide visionary leadership to the division of student affairs and the College more broadly; work across departments to promote a fully unified student experience; support an increasingly diverse student body and build an inclusive environment. The VPSA exercises oversight of student and residential life, student conduct, Greek life, health, counseling and campus safety, as well as diversity, disability, and career services. Additionally, the VPSA serves as the Title IX coordinator. As chief student affairs officer and member of the president’s leadership team, the VPSA serves as an advocate for the students and division staff, maintains close communication with the president and fellow senior administrators, and serves in a liaison role to selected committees of the Board of Trustees.
Westminster College seeks an experienced student affairs administrator with the qualifications commensurate with student affairs experience and service; a relevant doctorate is preferred, a master’s degree in student affairs is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and an understanding of the liberal arts setting.
