Full Time; Career Starting Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor/Dean of Students (AVC-DOS), the incumbent will provide high level strategic planning and organization development, project management, performance management and training, communication, and analytical support in a variety of areas that support organizational effectiveness. The Associate Dean of Students and Chief of Staff (ADOS/COS) will provide oversight to the Dean of Students administrative operations, including management of the daily operations of the Dean of Students Office. The Associate Dean will provide programmatic supervision and student advising for Dean of Students programs and services. The Associate Dean of Students and Chief of Staff (ADOS-COS) is also assigned a variety of ad hoc projects by the AVC, Dean of Students that concern a broad range of student life issues, problem resolutions, policy review and development, and communications.
This position requires the ability to work with insight, tact and diplomacy when interacting with constituents within Dean of Students, Division of Student Success, UCSC and external communities. The incumbent works independently with a high degree of confidentiality, and is responsible for providing analytical and organizational support to the AVC/DOS. The ADOS/COS serves as operational back up to the AVC/DOS when the AVC/DOS is unavailable.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Demonstrated ability in strategic planning, organizational development, performance management and/or assessment within a complex institution of higher education, working with a highly diverse staff and student body.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Ability to analyze complex information, problems, and processes in an objective manner and formulate conclusions to provide a sound basis for establishing priorities, select appropriate courses of action and make recommendations.
Astute political acumen regarding sensitive and high visibility issues; ability to manage and establish the delicate balances that must be achieved among competing variables and interests in a highly visible, diverse, and complicated campus environment.
