The Director of Summer Academic Programs is responsible for strategic directions of the Summer Academic Programs Office. The objectives of this position are to raise Carleton’s visibility and enhance its admissions profile with secondary school students and teachers, promote College readiness and access for underrepresented students, and to provide net income to the College and supplementary income and professional development opportunities to faculty. The Director of Summer Academic Programs reports to the VP and Chief of Staff in the President’s Office.
The Director of Summer Academic Program oversees all scheduling and operational facets of various programs, deploying office staff to effectively address the detailed day-to-day tasks. In close consultation with the Dean of the College Office, this position recruits faculty directors for each program and works with them on issues related to curriculum, staffing, program preparations, student selection, and enrollments. The Director will also coordinate staffing for the Summer Academic Programs office and assist program directors with hiring of faculty and staff for their sessions.
This is a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE), year round, exempt, benefit eligible position.

The successful candidate possesses a master’s degree, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and experience with staff management and building effective teams. Preferred qualities include work experience in an academic setting and experience with admissions, residential life, or summer camps.
