Position Title: Executive Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs
Serve as the primary, internal expert on diversity, equity and inclusivity work for students at St. John’s. Manage the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Inclusivity Resource Center. Develop, implement and oversee all training, education and dialogue initiatives for students and staff at St. John’s. Provide leadership in the areas of cultural programming, student social identity groups, social justice education, diverse student leadership development, and University-wide international student success initiatives.
The Executive Director will provide strategic direction for the development and planning of campus-wide equity and inclusion initiatives, in collaboration with the Student Affairs, the Office of the Provost, the Equity and Inclusion Council and other stakeholders. The Executive Director will work with students, staff and faculty interested in creating programming to improve campus climate.
Reporting to: Chief Diversity Officer
Manage the Office of Multicultural Affairs
Manage the Inclusivity Resource Center
Develop, implement and oversee all training, education and dialogue initiatives for students and staff at St. John’s
Increase competencies and enhance recruitment, training and development of students who are part of the Diversity Peer Education Program; develop new curricular modules
Review and deliver (in collaboration with Human Resources) social justice education and training for students and staff
Design and teach academic course on intergroup dialogue
Develop an intergroup dialogue program at the University
Establish a Common Ground community dialogue series, and train IGD student facilitators
Establish student, identity based support and discussion groups
Support identity based, student mentoring initiatives (RISE, AIM)
Oversight of heritage month celebrations for students, and collaborate with HR on heritage month celebrations for employees
Create and implement a restorative justice program
Other duties as assigned

MA required, Ph.D perferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience. Experience with the development and implementation of intergroup dialogue on a University campus strongly preferred. Experience with cultural center oversight preferred.
Position will require travel to the Staten Island campus at least once a week.
Requires flexibility to work nights and weekends on an as needed basis.
