Retirement: The University contributes 4% of the regular salary with up to 3% additional in matched contributions into the TIAA Retirement Program. Job Summary: The Assistant Director oversees the functions of the fraternities and sororities within the Office of Student Involvement. The Assistant Director serves as the primary contact for all colonies/chapters, students, alumni and inter/national organizations. The Assistant Director also serves as the primary coordinator of on-campus student programming.
Oversee fraternity and sorority life on campus by encouraging and promoting competent student leadership, effective self-governance and responsibility for individual/group student actions through regular meetings with chapter presidents.
Advise Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council including attendance at weekly council and executive board meetings; advise the Theta Eta chapter of Order of Omega.
Oversee the coordination of regular meetings of Presidents' Council as a sounding board for leaders of the Greek organizations.
Monitor the University Risk Management Policy; ensure that training is provided to the Greek community on the policy and related procedures; facilitate programming in the areas of risk management and membership recruitment.
Oversee Greek Housing in coordination with the Office of Residence Life and conduct life-safety inspections each term.
Maintain records for chapters and prepare reports on fraternity and sorority (academic performance, new member retention, chapter involvement, community service hours and philanthropic dollars raised).
Publish the 'Semester in Review' with information including but not limited to recruitment efforts, housing updates, council information, chapter news, retention figures, grade reports, chapter size, office and community programming efforts, community service hours performed and philanthropic dollars raised.
Oversee Greek community programming and the chapters' coordination of planning and preparation; coordinate office programming including but not limited to recruitment events, Greekapalooza, Greek Week, and Greek Awards; encourage, advise and supervise programming which includes but is not limited to recruitment efforts, new member education, awareness of timely social issues, judicial responsibilities, elections, Councils' officer training, awards/recognition events, faculty appreciation activities and university-wide events; continue to enhance and implement the annual Standards of Excellence Program as a means of evaluation and recognition for the Greek chapters.
Assist with planning, preparation and implementation for Summer Orientation sessions and Welcome Weekend programming.
Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in the fraternity and sorority community through the forums, membership, and meetings with the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors and attend the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values Central Leadership Conference with the ONU student delegation.
Meet with national chapter consultants and similar campus visitors to review, discuss, and make recommendations relative to chapter issues.
Maintain channels of communication between the University, Greek housing and alumni boards, the chapters' advisors, the undergraduate chapters' leadership and national offices. Serve as a resource to all chapter advisors. Coordinate advisors meetings to be held at least once per term.
Develop and maintain the Greek Life portion of the ONU Student Handbook, in coordination with the Director of Student and Involvement and the Director of Student Conduct.
Implement campus-wide programming initiatives for traditional and non-traditional populations. Advise various student programming groups and committees, including Student Planning Committee (SPC).
Manage and update the Greek Life and SPC websites in addition to marketing initiatives via social media.
Ensure maintenance and implementation of all applicable budgets. Manage contracts/advance artists and serve as contact to artists and professional agencies.
Oversee the St. Jude Soldiers Program including the advisement of the Executive Board.
Serve as a member of the Student Affairs Response Team and assist in covering duty on weekends.
Other duties as assigned
Extensive knowledge of policies, regulations and procedures of the National Panhellenic Conference, North-American Interfraternity Conference and FIPG, Inc.
Effective communicator (both oral and written), ability to work as an effective team player, comfortable handling competing tasks.
Event planning and organizational skills
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Master's degree in Student Personnel Services, Higher Education or a closely related area.
Two years of experience in Greek life, Student Affairs, or student programming as a professional/paraprofessional.
Previous experience working with fraternity and sorority expansion efforts.
