The Department of Administrative & Instructional Leadership at St. John’s University, New York City invites applications for a tenure-track position in Higher Education Leadership at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. Applicants are encouraged to apply who have a strong commitment to research and teaching that supports the preparation of higher education leaders in higher education administration. The successful candidate should be a scholar-practitioner of higher education with demonstrated professional experience in the field of higher education administration, in an area of academic affairs and/or student affairs.
Applicants must have earned a doctorate in higher education, educational leadership, or a related field of study from an accredited university by date of appointment.
The successful candidate will: • Teach graduate courses in higher education leadership at the main campus and satellite locations in the region, as well as online, providing academic advisement, internship supervision, mentoring doctoral students, and contributing to departmental activities and initiatives. • Conduct nationally and internationally recognized research in areas related to higher education leadership.
Desired Qualifications: • Capacity to seek and receive external support for grants/research; • Experience in comparative and international higher education research and teaching; • Presentations at the regional, national, and/or international level; • Experience teaching and advising masters students and directing doctoral dissertations; • Evidence of a commitment to and experience with working collegially with students from culturally diverse backgrounds • Administrative experience in higher education.
