Oversees all operations of the Office of Orientation and Transition, including supervision of full-time staff, graduate assistants, and student staff, development and management of budget, implementation of all first-year and transfer orientation programs, coordination of welcome week and other retention initiatives. Provides programming support for Parent and Family Programs including parent executive board, Parent and Family Weekend, parent send-off programs and other events. Assesses and coordinates all areas of responsibility. This position dually reports through Academic Affairs and Enrollment Management.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 8:00 – 5:00 Monday – Friday with some evenings and weekends as needed.

Organizes, implements and evaluates all new student orientation programs and related activities for new and prospective students; works collaboratively with staff and faculty. Develops collaborative relationships with other offices on campus who are integral to orientation, retention, and parent efforts. 2. Organizes, implements and evaluates all transfer student orientation programs and related activities for transfer students; works collaboratively with staff and faculty. 3. Provides programming support for the Sophomore Rise, a retention program for second-year students at the University of Utah. 4. Supervises staff and coordinates office functions. Hires and fires as necessary. Trains and evaluates. Oversees budget development and management. 5. Develops, edits, and distributes high-quality publications, brochures, and materials for all activities within the Office of Orientation and Transition. 6. Support initiatives related to parent programs including providing programming support for the Parent Executive Committee of the Parent Association. 7. Serves as an active member of the Student Affairs and Undergraduate Studies divisions.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related area, or equivalency; eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communications skills required.
