JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement is a full-time professional staff member reporting to the Director of Student Engagement. S/he is charged with developing programs and services which enhance the overall student experience through campus programs and activities. In addition, this individual assists with the development of leadership and service opportunities, conducts outcomes assessments, and participates in campus-wide initiatives.
This is a full time exempt position in a professional setting. Position requires travel, driving vehicles, and some late night and weekend hours.
Development and implementation of community, leadership, diversity, and service programs and events, which include daytime and nighttime programming, creating, collaborating, budgeting, promoting, delivering, and evaluating
Responsible for the management of programs within large campus-wide initiatives including, but not limited to, Warrior Induction, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Global Week, and heritage months
Initiate and maintain communications with agents and performing artists
Assist in the development of programming for students in ESU’s Lehigh Valley Center in Bethlehem, PA, which includes social events and discounted tickets
Advise the Campus Activities Board (CAB), including each of its committees, and coordinate program planning/delivery in conjunction with student leaders. This involves training student leaders relative to their committee work assignments and interests, secure operational/technical support, program supervision, preparation and presentation of the CAB budget, and oversight of committee expenditures to assure compliance with SAA fiscal policies
Supervise the development of the CAB’s annual concert, leading in contract negotiation, staff training, volunteer recruitment, production, promotion, and evaluation
Provide advice and serve as a programming resource person to all student organizations, club advisors, and student leaders. Interact with faculty, staff, campus organizations and University departments to encourage, promote and facilitate cooperative programming
Leadership and Service:
Assist with the development and implementation of leadership programs including, but not limited to, Leadserve
Development and implementation of community service/volunteer programs including, but not limited to, the Alternative Spring Break
Assist in developing, planning and distributing of an annual budget
Assist in the selection, training and supervision of graduate assistants and undergraduate students
Conduct assessments for the evaluation of student learning outcomes in programming
Conduct research for the development of innovative programming and services
Develop and deliver innovative and engaging presentation and marketing for the promotion of programs and services
Demonstrate a commitment to the issues of social equity and continue to develop professionally in the area of multicultural competence
Continue professional development relevant to the improvement of student engagement programs and services
Attend regional/national conferences while supervising student delegates
Perform other related duties as assigned by Director of Student Engagement and/or the Executive Director of the Student Activity Association

Master’s degree (conferred by December 2018) in student affairs, higher education, leadership or related field of study
One year experience in planning, developing, and implementing events and programs
Experience with college student development and organization advising
At least two years of post-graduate experience in student activity programming or related college student advising functions
Experience with large-scale campus events including, but not limited to, concerts, comedians, Homecoming, and diversity programming
Experience with contract negotiation
Experience working with a diverse community and demonstrate commitment to inclusion and social justice
Demonstrate experience in the use of digital tools and social media in outreach to students, which may include CollegiateLink, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Ability to bend and squat; and stand or sit for extended periods of time
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Must have a valid state issued driver’s license
