RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Off Campus Student Services provides leadership for services, programs, and policies supporting commuter students, transfer students, Veteran students and other constituent populations within the off-campus student community. Provides visionary leadership, builds collaborative partnerships with facuty, departments and local community constituencies, fosters student engagement and success. Responsible for the daily coordination and administration of the Off Campus Student Services office . Initiates, plans and facilitates events and/or activities to enhance the quality of student life and University experience for commuter and nontraditional students. The Director facilitates assessment of needs and outcomes for the programmatic functions of Off Campus Student Services. Oversees recruitment, selction, training and general supervision for professional and student staff members. Promotes an environment which affirms diversity, intercultural interaction and community building activities.
Creates vision, provides entrepreneurial leadership and oversees the Off Campus Student Services program, including housing resources, transportation information, paraprofessional program and programmatic offerings.
Serves as member of Student Affairs Leadership Council.
Implements strategies to create community, facilitate learning and support retention.
Provides leadership for the development and implementation of educational outreach and marketing.
Establishes strategic goals and strategies that support student development learning with focus on needs of commuters, transfers, Veterans, and adult learners.
Assesses student satisfaction, and accomplishment of program, and departmental outcomes.
Develops a budget linking to department goals and priorities and oversees allocation of resources.
Hires, supervises, and evaluates department personnel.
Disseminates (department specific) information to students, faculty and staff through University and department publications and digital platform.
Creates and maintains department databases and web delivered services.
Acts as liaison to local housing complexes, campus organizations, university administrative units, and external customers concerning off-campus student living, services, programs and activities.
Works collaboratively with UMBC Transit to develop and promote transportation resources that is inclusive of commuter students.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree (Doctorate or terminal degree preferred) in a related field and five (seven preferred) years of successful and progressive management experience preferably in higher education administration, student life, or related area.
Must have: fiscal, staff, and program planning experience; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to establish working relationships with diverse campus and community constituencies. supervision, experience in community development, student advocacy, knowledge of student development learning; knowledge of housing, marketing and community relations programs.
Significant knowledge of commuter affairs, including work with adult learners, off-campus housing or student activities administrative experience
