Rutgers University–New Brunswick announces a national search for the Director of New Student Orientation and Family Programs. Position Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement, the incumbent in this role is responsible for system-wide orientation and new student initiatives for the 8,000 new students and their families at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. The Director is responsible for leading the design and implementation of a holistic, cohesive curriculum and programmatic initiatives that advance the University’s priorities for improved student preparation and success by providing a coordinated first-year experience that aligns with the University’s strategic retention goals. In addition, this position is responsible for engaging parents and families of Rutgers University–New Brunswick as key stakeholders by providing orientation, communication, support, education, and engagement opportunities.
Building on Rutgers strong foundation of innovation and active learning, the Director will: Demonstrate experience in the development of creative and innovative programs and strategies, and collaboration across departments in a higher education environment. Engage parents and families of Rutgers University–New Brunswick as key stakeholders by providing orientation, communication, support, education, and engagement opportunities. Be a highly accomplished presenter, able to deliver succinct messages that engage students and garner commitment from senior leaders across Rutgers in formal and informal settings. Demonstrate experience with assessment and skill in using data and student learning outcomes to make evidence-based decisions regarding campus life programs and services. Work closely with campus partners in service-related capacities such as University Facilities, Housing, Dining Services, Public Safety and Transportation Services to coordinate and execute complex logistics for multiple safe and effective overnight orientation programs for 6,000+ students annually across the four campuses in New Brunswick & Piscataway. Possess skill, comprehensive knowledge, and understanding of student development, program planning, leadership and training, marketing concepts and strategies, and complex event execution and management.
