Description: This position manages the day-to-day operation of the SOC Office of Student and Academic Affairs including the academic advising function and is a member of the academic services team. This position focuses on the undergraduate student and academic affairs of the School of Communication, dealing with faculty, staff, students, and university administrators. Coordinates outreach to prospective students, maintains correspondence with prospective and admitted students, coordinates Preview Days, Freshman Days, and other high-volume visit days. The Director is the SOC liaison to the Admissions Office. The Director also oversees the SOC Student Ambassador Program. Ensures academic policies/regulations are adhered too.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum Requirements: • Five years advising or other higher education academic experience • Supervisory and management skills • Must have strong interpersonal, organizational, written and presentation skills and capacity for detail • Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and interact with a wide variety of people, personalities, and cultures
Preferred Requirements: • Initiative, flexibility, and teamwork approach desirable
