Provides leadership and directs the Office of the Registrar while supporting the academic mission of Weill Cornell Medicine and Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences This position plans, organizes and manages all of the activities related to the Records and the Office of Registrar by overseeing the registration and enrollment services for various educational programs
Ensures that adequate resources are available for the administration of National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) exams. Coordinates the ordering and scheduling of these exams. Oversees the dissemination of scores.
Oversees the registration and enrollment services of various educational programs. Ensures that students can register and avoid overlap between medical school and graduate school course schedules. Ensures that requirements comply with policies/procedures.
Responsible for collecting, recording and maintaining student records within FERPA guidelines, e.g. grades, registration data, transcripts, mid-term verification, audits. Conducts audits of degree candidates. Ensures efficient student workflows.
Provides leadership and develops appropriate recommendations for the implementation of appropriate technology in support of enhanced services offered through registration for various student programs.
Designs and generates metrics and reports on student program trends, needs and market analysis. Oversees the registration and enrollment services for these programs.
Develops and administers the Office of the Registrar’s budget.
Works with education programs to ensure all necessary documents are submitted simultaneously. Establishes and maintains academic calendar to meet state/accreditation requirements. Ensures that course offerings comply with program and school regulations.
Oversees registration of students for licensing and certification examinations. Supervises the coordination, evaluation and certification of all graduation applications. Oversees the certification, preparation of documents for the licensure of graduates.
Oversees enrollment, and the tracking, auditing, reporting, and certifying of academic progress. “Academic progression” includes changes in status such as leaves and probation. Reporting of progress includes transcript creation.
Coordinates the assignment of Advisors to third year medical students. Directs the process by which students apply for residency -- ERAS, Matches and oversees the coordination of Match Day.
Oversees student certification and licensing process in all units, which includes certification and preparation of documents for the licensure of graduates.
Responsible for grade reporting, recording and dissemination of grades to students.
Establishes and manages guidelines for student data and document integrity/management. This includes permanent and archived data and documents pertaining to each matriculated student’s progress.
Responsible for the student information system and web interfaces. Responsible for maintaining documents that preserve institutional memory. Oversees reporting to internal and external entities in compliance with FERPA and other applicable regulations.
Collaborates with internal entities to facilitate and improve services to students. Ensures consistency in policies and practice with WCM-Q. Maintains relationships with internal and external constituencies to ensure continuity and transparency.
Represents WCM in professional organizations and activities, including conferences.
Acts as the liaison between the medical, graduate and masters programs to ensure that all elements of the course offering process are accurate.
Provides direction to and leads the training of staff on functional specific tasks, applications, concepts, policies and/or procedures.
Bachelor's Degree in related field
Approximately 6-8 years of experience as a Registrar for a graduate institution; A minimum of 4 years managerial and supervisory experience At least 3-5 years managing registration functions in a student information system
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong computer skills and knowledge fo Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work within a team environment, as well as independently.
